Botanical Name: Sesamum Inducum
Country of Origin – Italy
This oil is sometimes found to be strong smelting by some, yet as a good source of vitamin E and B complex and minerals such as calcium, magnesium and phosphorus. Sesame oil further contains protein as welt as lecithin. In folk medicine, it has also been used to help fade blemishes. The Sesame herb is grown for its seeds and was used by the Chinese 5000 years ago. The Egyptians produced flour from its ground seeds, and Roman soldiers mixed the seeds with honey for an energy snack. It may be expressed or extracted and is also known as Gingelly or Til Oil. If the oil is extracted from raw seeds, it is a rather fight color compared to that extracted from roasted seeds. Sesame Seed OH is a natural skin moisturizer. Although it is thick oil, it is used for eczema, psoriasis and mature skin and it contains excellent moisturizing properties. It is best mixed with carrier oil, such as almond or grape seed to make it a bit lighter. Sesame massage oil has great moisturizing, soothing and emollient qualities that make it a good choice to include when mixing a massage oil or preparing a carrier oil blend. It is beneficial for dry skin. It does not stain sheets.
Now, it is also used as a medicine in India. Oil pressed from the raw seed is used as massage oil in Ayurvedic medicine. In some part of Asia, Gingelly Oil is used for cooking purpose and it gives the typical flavor to foods of these regions, although tasteless in itself. It may be a clear or golden color compared to the darker, more aromatic oriental Sesame Oil used in China, Japan & Korea.
